Who is Ellie Blahnik, MA, LMFT?
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in Family Systems work. My passion is working with new mothers, mothers of young children, work-life balance and the mental workload.
Family relationships can be complicated. Often women are defaulted to the family CEO, balancing, anticipating, planning, and preparing invisible, but necessary household tasks. The inequitable distribution of invisible labor takes a toll on our relationships with ourselves as well as our relationships with our partners and children.
Therapy provides you with the space to learn to advocate for yourself, implement practical self care techniques and to create equitable (not necessarily equal) distribution of household duties. Ultimately, learning to create healthy boundaries will allow you and your family to grow together.
How will we work together?
I provide services to my clients both in-person or online. In our work together you will feel validated, gain perspective and awareness and grow your support network.
As your therapist I am committed to:
- Listening and being curious.
- Providing supportive and honest feedback
- Honoring you as the expert in your story
What about your education and experience?
I received my master’s degree in Marriage and Family therapy through Saint Mary’s University.
I have worked in the non-profit world for the last ten years, focusing on providing services to families of individuals who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety Disorders and other issues that disrupt the family system.
I am currently DC 0-5 Verified and a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor.
Finding the right support team is possible – you are not alone.
